Education:
Three schools later I am glad I finally found Central Washington University to pursue my dreams in the fashion industry. After high school I had hard time trying to figure out what I wanted to dedicate the last four years of my education to, I went from wanting to be a nutritionist to a Spanish teacher. I have always been creative and I knew I wanted to major in something where I could use my talent. Thanks to the endless support of my parents, I found that the Apparel, Textiles, & Merchandising program would be perfect for me. One of the opportunities that I have been most thankful at Central Washington University was being part of the 2016 fashion show. It was such an amazing experience to be apart, I learned so much and I got to design my first bridal line.

Personal Strengths:
The most important personal strength for me would be my creativeness. I chose the ATM program because I knew this program would allow me to use my skills to the full capacity. I feel like being creative also helps me become a better problem solver in all areas of my life and work. My creative side lets me tackle a situation from all angles. I love how my garments are a projection of me and my ideas that are than translated into beautiful work that adds value to my life and hopefully someday to others.
Values:
One of the things I value most about myself is my competitive attitude. I have always strived to be the best at what I do. My parents have always taught me that not everything in life is easy, we have to push to through the hard times even when it seems impossible. Hard work has taught me perseverance, persistence, and determination. It isn’t good to always have your hand out, waiting on someone to give you something. You have to go out and work your hardest to achieve your dreams. One of my favorite quotes by Pele is “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” I’m glad I have found a love for fashion because it is what keeps me going.

Technical Knowledge:
The two years that I have spent at CWU I have learned a lot of valuable information. Through my coursework at Central, I have become skilled in Photoshop as well as Microsoft Publisher. Both of these programs have helped me with building my portfolio in fashion. One of the classes that was very useful to me was Fashion Trend Analysis class. I think this is one of the more important classes that I have taken because Fashion trend forecasting helps predict trends in the fashion industry by being able to the predict the mood, behavior and buying habits of the consumer at particular time of season. I also have taken an advanced sewing class that has helped me learn how to drape, pattern and construct garments.
